User Research
1
To better understand the needs and concerns of potential NFT users, I conducted both quantitative and qualitative research. The primary goal was to explore user perceptions of NFTs and identify usability challenges within existing NFT platforms.
2
A survey was conducted with 20 participants, including college students and working professionals. The survey focused on user familiarity with NFTs, investment behavior, and their confidence in using crypto platforms.
3
Additionally, in-depth interviews were conducted with 6 participants who had varying levels of experience with NFTs. The research revealed that while many participants were curious about NFTs, a majority had never completed a transaction due to uncertainty and lack of confidence.
USER JOURNEY MAP

Discovery Stage
Browsing the NFT marketplace
At the beginning of the journey, the user visits the marketplace to explore available NFTs. They scroll through collections, artwork cards, and trending assets to understand what types of digital collectibles are available.
Users feel overwhelmed by the number of NFTs displayed and struggle to identify which assets are valuable or trustworthy.
Users feel a mix of curiosity and confusion. While they are excited to explore NFTs, they also feel unsure about how to navigate the marketplace effectively.
Introduce clear categorization, filters, and curated collections to help users discover NFTs more easily.

Checking NFT details
After selecting an NFT
the user navigates to the NFT detail page to learn more about the asset. They review the artwork preview, creator information, pricing details, and ownership history. Users also compare prices across different NFTs to determine whether the asset fits within their budget.
Users often experience confusion about the total payable amount, especially when transaction fees or gas fees are not clearly explained
Users begin to feel uncertain and cautious. They want to proceed with the purchase but hesitate due to unclear pricing.
Display a transparent price breakdown, showing the NFT price, network fee, and total payable amount before the user confirms the purchase

Wallet Connection Stage
Connecting a crypto wallet
Before completing the purchase, users must connect a digital wallet to authenticate the transaction. Many NFT marketplaces require integration with external wallets such as MetaMask.
Users struggle with technical terminology and unfamiliar wallet connection steps.
At this stage, users often feel frustrated and hesitant, worrying that they might make a mistake during the process.
Simplify wallet connection instructions and provide clear visual guidance and explanations to help users understand what is happening.

Purchase Stage
Confirming the NFT transaction
During this stage, the transaction is processed through the blockchain network. The user must approve the transaction in their wallet before the NFT is transferred to their account.
Users experience anxiety about hidden charges and irreversible transactions.
The dominant emotion during this stage is anxiety, as users want reassurance that they are making the correct decision.
Provide a clear transaction confirmation screen that highlights the final cost, transaction summary, and security indicators.

MIDFIDILITY DESIGN
These wireframes introduced clearer UI components such as NFT cards, navigation elements, and transaction confirmation screens. The mid-fidelity stage focused on improving layout hierarchy, ensuring that users could easily understand where to find information such as price, creator details, and transaction buttons.

DESIGNED FOR BIGGNERS

The final design resulted in a simplified NFT marketplace experience that improved usability for beginner users.
Problem:
How might we design an NFT ?
A marketplace that allows students and first-time users to confidently buy and sell NFTs without feeling technically overwhelmed or financially anxious?
